Pringle Lake is reported to be just about the best place to sail in the area. This small salt water estuary is bordered by Matagorda Island on the south shore and Vanderveer Island to the north. It is accessible only by a narrow channel, most easily navigable at high tide. It may be accessible by having the Matagorda Island park rangers drive you and your gear there from the park headquarters on the island. It is two to three feet deep all the way across. The bottom is muddy and grassy, a weed fin is probably a good idea. If the reports are accurate, this place is likely to be comparable in quality to Bird Island Basin near Corpus Christi, only much more isolated and remote. Camping is great, but bring fresh water and provisions.
